Unlike typical IT network switches and routers that prioritize data transmission efficiency, the PhoenixNET is meticulously crafted to meet the exacting demands of audiophiles, where every nuance matters.
The Four Pillars of Design Excellence
Minimize Network Switch Noise: In the pursuit of audio purity, the PhoenixNET opts for simplicity. It employs a 100mbps network switch chip that operates with a lower noise floor compared to Gigabit switches. The switch chip receives power from an internal Statement-grade linear power supply with independent ultra-low noise regulation. Furthermore, individual Network Isolation Transformers isolate the switch from noise generated by routers and connected devices. The Ethernet ports are thoughtfully shielded, high-quality, and directly soldered to the board, omitting activity lights that introduce electrical noise. To combat interference, strategic EMI absorption points are strategically placed to capture interference before it affects other components.
Increase Clocking Precision and Stability: Clock precision is paramount in network audio. The PhoenixNET employs the same 3 parts per billion (PPB) 25MHz OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) oscillator found in the flagship Statement. This OCXO oscillator is independently powered by its dedicated linear power supply and connected directly to the network switch chip, eliminating precision losses associated with external master clocks.
Provide Pristine Power to the Components: To ensure clean and reliable power, the PhoenixNET incorporates two independent Statement-grade linear power supplies equipped with Mundorf Caps. These power supplies cater individually to the OCXO clock and the mainboard, maintaining a short power path that minimizes the chance of EMI contamination.
Minimize Vibration on Components: Vibration can adversely affect audio quality. Innuos addresses this by managing vibration at multiple levels. Anti-vibration feet are precisely tuned to the chassis's resonant frequency, effectively minimizing vibrations. The top cover is treated to convert vibrations captured from sound waves into small amounts of heat, preventing interference. Sturdy RJ45 ports feature silicone connections to the chassis, further reducing vibration.
